BOWLING GREEN, Ky. (Oct. 14, 2016) – The expected traffic impacts in District 3 for October 17 through October 21 are listed below. All work is subject to change.
Barren County

- KY 255 Bon Ayr Road – Contractors are expected to complete shoulder operations this week as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from Steam Mill Road to U.S. 68. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- KY 921 Bewleytown Road – Contractors are expected to complete shoulder operations this week for a resurfacing project on KY 921 that will extend from Bradshaw Road to KY 87. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- U.S. 68/KY 80X Columbia Avenue- A signal replacement project at the intersection of Columbia Avenue and Front Street will resume next week. The project will consist of replacing the existing signal, repairing the sidewalk for the pedestrian crosswalks and paving the intersection. This work will be performed under intermittent daytime and nighttime lane closures and flagging operations. This project is expected to be completed by November.
Butler County
- Contract crews will continue concrete repair work on the William Natcher Parkway. From mile markers 34 – 37 there will be one lane closed in each direction and the speed will be reduced to 55 mph. Motorists are advised to slow down and use caution when traveling through the work zone. This work is expected to last approximately 3-4 weeks.
Edmonson County
- KY 238 Big Reedy Road – Contractors are expected to make roadway repairs as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from Huff Ridge Road to KY 185. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- KY 1339 Fairview Church Road – Contractors are expected to begin paving operations as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from KY 259 to the Barren County line. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- KY 1352 Stockholm Road – Contractors are expected to make roadway repairs as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from Green River Ferry Road to KY 1827. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
Logan County
- Russellville Southern Bypass- Excavation activities will continue on the Russellville Southern Bypass just West of KY 100 with hauling to continue across U.S. 431. The haul road crossing will remain in place while the contractor hauls excess material from the east side of U.S. 431 to the west side of U.S. 431. During working hours, U.S. 431 will be controlled by flaggers which will stop traffic along U.S. 431 in order to allow trucks to haul across U.S. 431. During non-working hours, the intersection will not be controlled by flaggers. For the duration of the haul road crossing, the speed limit through the area will be reduced from to 45 mph to ensure adequate stopping sight distance. Advanced warning signs will be in place to alert motorists of the speed zone reduction and the no-passing zone as they approach the intersection. At this time, the length of the use of the haul road is undetermined.
- 9th Street (KY 3240)/South Main Street (3519) Intersection – The traffic signal rebuild project will continue with crews continuing construction of the new signal poles. Motorists should anticipate a one lane road controlled by flaggers.
- U.S. 68 from the Warren County line to Russellville Bypass/Russellville Bypass from U.S. 68 to U.S. 79 – Asphalt joint sealing operations will begin. Motorists should anticipate lane closures through this work zone.
Metcalfe County
- KY 90 Summer Shade Road – Contractors are expected to begin paving operations as part of a resurfacing project that from Glover Creek Bridge to KY 163. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- KY 861 Randolph Road – Contractors will continue replacing pipes as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from KY 640 to Glasgow Street. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
- KY 2387 Mount Moriah Road – Contractors will continue replacing pipes as part of a resurfacing project that will improve roadside features from Pace Road to Morris Road. Flaggers will be present to maintain traffic through the work zone.
Monroe County
- New Salem Road- A bridge project on New Salem Road over Peter Creek in Monroe County created a road closure with detour route.
The project closed New Salem Road at Peter Creek near the community of Mud Lick with the roadway expected to reopen with the new bridge in mid-November. The detour utilizes New Salem Road, KY 63, KY 870 and Bethlehem Church Road. The detour route is approximately 7 miles.
Simpson County
- KY 100 Scottsville Road – Contractors have begun working on a project that will reconstruct and widen KY 100 from I-65 to KY 622. Utility Contractors are in the process of relocating utility services along the project. Motorists should be prepared for occasional flagging operations as construction traffic enters and exits the project.
- U.S. 31-W- Crews will resume placing roadway embankment for the U.S. 31-W widening project. Most this work will be done off the roadway and have little impact on motorist traveling the area. The speed limit through this project has been lowered to 45 mph.
Todd County
- KY 181 North Main Street – The bridge over Elk Creek has been reopened, and motorists using KY 181 will be shifted to the west side of the roadway to allow the contract crews to continue widening operations on the east side of KY 181. Motorists should anticipate a one lane road controlled by flaggers during working hours.
Warren County
- Interstate 65 to U.S. 31-W Connector- Crews continue work on the connector project. Most work is being done off the roadway, but motorists need to be aware of construction vehicles crossing on U.S. 68. Construction traffic is also expected to cross Kelly Road.
- Kelly Road- Kelly Road is closed while work on the I-65 to U.S. 31-W connector continues. There will be a signed detour route.
