Update to Fatal UTV/Vehicle collision in Adair County from October 29th

img_6172-1.jpgThe Kentucky State Police in Columbia hasw released that the 14 y/o passenger, Raquel Anyega, passed away this morning at 8:10 am.

Tragic UTV and vehicle collision claims 2 lives, injuries 2 more in Adair County

Columbia, Ky. (October 29, 2016) – Tpr. Jason Warinner is investigating a collision that occurred on Friday, October 28th, 2016 at 4:53 PM CST, at the intersection of KY 206 and Sanders Ridge Road.  15-year-old Macie Drake, of Columbia, was operating a southbound Can-Am UTV on Sanders Ridge Rd. and failed to stop at the intersection of KY 206. The UTV crossed into the path of an eastbound 2004 Ford F-250 operated by 52-year-old Randell Gabehart, of Knifley.  The UTV was struck in the passenger side and both vehicles exited the roadway.

Macie Drake and a passenger in the UTV, 15-year-old Abby Gail Curry, of Columbia, were pronounced deceased as a result of injuries sustained in the collision.  A third passenger, 14-year-old Raquel Anyega, of Columbia, was ejected from the UTV and airlifted from the scene to the University of Kentucky Medical Center where she remains in critical condition.

Randell Gabehart was transported to TJ Health in Columbia where he was treated and released.  Tpr. Warinner was assisted by the Knifley Fire Dept., Adair County Fire Dept., Sheriff’s Dept. and Casey County EMS.
