On 3-8-2020 approximately 01:30 p.m. Marshall County Deputies were dispatched to a multi vehicle injury collision at the intersection of U.S. 68E and Moors Camp Highway. Upon arrival responders learned that several occupants from two different vehicles had sustained injuries and were being transported to local hospitals by ambulance and helicopters. During the course of the investigation, Deputies learned that Randall D Massey age 59 of Calvert City had succumbed of his injuries. Mr. Massey was the passenger of the vehicle driven by Kevin R. West of Benton. Deputies suspected that Mr. West was under the influence at the time of the collision and initiated a DUI investigation of West parallel to him being treated medically. As the investigation progressed Deputies were made aware today by a medical facility that Youlane S. Cathey age 82 of Benton Ky, one of the four occupants in the other vehicle had also succumbed to her injuries while at their facility.
Mr. West was not taken into custody at the time of the incident due to receiving medical treatment at Vanderbilt Medical Center. Mr. West has since left that facility and is being sought on a warrant of arrest for numerous charges to include:
Manslaughter 2nd degree / Assault 2nd degree / DUI / Careless driving / Trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense-drug unspecified / Trafficking in controlled substance, 1st degree, 1st offense- methamphetamine / drug paraphernalia / Possession of controlled substance, 3rd degree-drug unspecified /
