An outbreak of severe thunderstorms is forecast as our entire region is under a Level 3 Severe Weather Risk, mainly for this evening, possibly extending until after midnight over western KY. A squall line should develop this evening and per SPC “This squall-line should be accompanied by numerous damaging wind gusts, large hail and a tornado threat.” Before the squall line development this evening, discrete supercells will be possible later this afternoon and into the evening. Per SPC, “Hailstones of greater than 2 inches in diameter will be possible with the stronger more discrete storms.” This is a serious severe weather threat. Plan your afternoon and especially your evening around the weather and stay informed via your favorite media outlet and/or via weather.gov/pah. Ensure your weather radio has fresh batteries and be prepared to shelter!
